Pergamum capital of first-century Asia, center of Roman emperor worship, the very house of Satan. Marcus and Paulus stand face to face—scorn in the eyes of one, peace in the other. “You are now the enemy, my brother . . .” As the persecution of Christ’s followers in Pergamum intensifies, a body is found on the steps to the altar, a sinister plot rocks the city, and the raspy cry of a newborn pierces the night. Intrigue and deception intertwine in Pergamum Satan’s Throne, Sharon Dow’s surprising sequel to Antipas Martyr. In dark alleys and pathways, evil plots are conspired and God’s power over Satan is put to the test in an epic battle. Amid the rubble, will the new Christians emerge victorious, with their faith strong and vital? Walk the streets of Pergamum, stand on the steps of the altar to Zeus, and listen as early followers of The Way risk everything to preach Christ.

One wonders what makes terrorists, evil human beings, and persecutors act the way they do and what kind of living environment promotes such inner agitation that one would want to and be willing to destroy another's life. In Pergamum: Satan’s Throne, Sharon Dow describes the physical and mental background of people in the community where Antipas (the hero of her first novel) lived with his family and fellow believers. Beyond having their guilt of sin exposed by the name of Jesus Christ, Pergamum, (her second novel) explores their plots and motives to destroy the followers of The Way. It also intimates how God’s Holy Spirit, in many cases, foiled their plans and protected His own children from harm. Mrs. Dow’s exhaustive research into first century life will help readers better understand the persecution that we see occurring in our world today.by Winnie Kaetzel, author of Bending With the Bamboo, the personal memoirs of an American family's life in Laos during the Vietnam War.

Pergamum Satan Throne Sharon Dow 9781937756734 Books Reviews
Sharon Dows book Satan's Throne is the 2ed book in the Pergamum series. After Antipas was martyred at Zeus'a alter for being a follower of Christ the Christians had to flee for their lifes. The Roman emperor was evil and tried to destroy the church. You will find that reading this book you will be following every movement you may even put yourself in side the book.
Suspense awaits at every turn of the page as you read Dow's sequel, Pergamum Satan's Throne.
On the heels of Antipas Martyr Sharon Dow brilliantly carries on the story of the persecuted Christians in Pergamum. Paulus, the brother whom Antipas led to the Lord takes the place of his martyred brother in continuing the leading of the Christian church in Pergamum.
As Paulus ponders whether he will face the same fate as his brother Antipas, he does not abandon his newly found faith in Christ nor his loyalty to his family and friends. He faithfully and lovingly cares for the Christ-followers as they face many hardships at the hand of the Roman leaders.
Julian, Paulus' father, and Marcus, Paulus' brother were both on the evil side while Paulus faithfully prayed for the conversion of his lost family members and showed compassion for them at every turn.
Read what happens to Marcus his brother. Find out the fate of his father who had gone crazy as his mind was seized by demons after Antipas' death. What do you suppose happened to Antipas' wife and son—Eunice and Simon? And, let's not forget Paulina, Paulus' mother who remained faithful to God through the abusive life she suffered at the hand of her husband.
A lot goes on in Paulus' life— a life that at one time was very lonely before coming to know the Lord Jesus, thanks to his brother Antipas—and the twists and turns of his story left me on the edge of my seat as I found myself wanting to read faster to see what was coming up next.
I'm sure as you read these two books by Sharon Dow you will not want to put them down once you get started. After reading Antipas Martyr it only took me a day and half to read Pergamum Satan's Throne.
